Ultraviolet Light

UV light spectrum

UV-C is well known in its capability to kill germs and viruses. Our cutlery polishers are equipped with a UV-C light bulb which operates at the optimal germicidal wavelength of 254 nm. The UV light bulb breaks down and eliminates germs, viruses and bacteria’s which makes it impossible for the microorganisms to replicate and infect. Please carry out a simple check on your polisher to ensure your bulb is working. Simply look for a blue light emitting from the exit chute when switched on. Bulbs last for 8000 hours. DO NOT use the UV light to disinfect your skin, this is dangerous and can cause serious skin irritations.

The effects of UV-C on Bacteria and virus elimination is well documented, in China they are using UV-C to neutralise the Coronavirus in Hospitals and even buses.

The Cutlery Polisher Company are monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and its impact, and we are doing all we can to make safe and reassure our employees and our customers. We are following government guidelines and we are reducing our planned maintenance and onsite visits where possible.

At present none of our members of staff have the virus or have been in contact with the virus, should this change, they will not be allowed to work on sites or in our office or warehouse.

World Health Organisation (WHO) have stated the following;

“UV lamps should not be used to sterilize hands or other areas of skin as UV radiation can cause skin irritation.” Therefore UV lamps cannot be present in public spaces, but our machines have UV lights located inside which does not impact human health, but can help improve your cutlery polishing procedures and makes the polishing practice safer in comparison to using a damp cloth.

“The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled and exposed to different conditions and temperatures is also low.”

How to check if your UV lamp is working;
